It is thought that Mr Den Dekker, who recently stepped down as president of Ferma at the Stockholm forum to hand over to Jorge Luzzi of Pirelli, will begin his new job at the beginning of December and be based at the group’s corporate headquarters in Amsterdam.

VimpelCom emerged from the rapidly growing Russian market to become one of the world’s integrated telecommunications services operators with operations in Russia and other former Soviet Union states Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Algeria, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Burundi, Zimbabwe, Central African Republic, Italy and Canada.

As of June 30, 2011 VimpelCom had 193 million mobile subscribers. The group is traded on the New York Stock Exchange and was the first Russian company to list on the NYSE. For the second quarter of this year pro forma revenue generated by the group increased 9% to $6bn while pro forma EBITDA was stable at $2.4bn.
